Kendrick Lamar Credits Eminem For His Lyricism

Kendrick Lamar and Rick Rubin sat down for a while at the Shangri La studios and talked for a bit before heading in to record, but during the 49 minute power session, Kendrick credited Eminem for inspiring his unique brand of lyricism.

“I got my clarity just studying Eminem when I was a kid,” the Lamar says. “How I got in the studio was all just curiosity. I had a love for the music, but it was curiosity. The day I heard The Marshall Mathers LP, I was just like, ‘How does that work? What is he doing? How is he putting his words together like that? What’s the track under that? An ad-lib? What is that?’ And then, ‘Why don’t you go in the studio and see?’ So I do that. Then it became, ‘How’s his words cutting through the beat like that? What is he doing that I’m not doing, now that I’m into it?’ His time is impeccable. When he wants to fall off the beat, it’s impeccable. These are things that, through experience and time, I had to learn.”

In 2014 Eminem praised Kendrick Lamar himself, saying “He raps to be the best rapper in the world. He competitive-raps. That’s one of the things that’s going to drive his career. He’s going to be around for a long time.”

DJ Floss Roasts Drake Over Blue Jays Loss

In Game 5, the Toronto Blue Jays were eliminated from contention, and DJ Steph Floss took no time in roasting Drake, and his home team for their elimination. DJ Floss is the official DJ of the Cleveland Cavaliers, and has a friendly Instagram rivalry with Drake throughout the series; after their loss he posted a clip of Drake siding with Cleveland in his younger days.

Throughout the friendly rivalry, Floss tried to bait Drake and for the most part Drizzy didn’t rise to it, but after the Blue Jays rise in Game 3, he shot back with a shopped image of Floss supposedly warming up in a Blue Jays outfit.

While it’s sad to see Drizzy’s Blue Jays eliminated from the game, there’s always next year. Check out DJ Floss’s instagram and Drizzy’s instagram  to see the whole rivalry play out, and stick with us at Hip Hop Bling for all your bling bling jewelry and Hip Hop news.

Denzel Curry Signed A Deal With Loma Vista

Denzel Curry has inked with Loma Vista, choosing them out of the many labels that approached him for a deal. Loma Vista also has contracts with Iggy Pop and Marilyn Manson, but said that he chose them specifically for the work they’re willing to put in to support their artists;

“I went to several labels and pretty much I had weighed out my options with each label and saw what they wanted from me,” Curry said to Billboard. “And Loma was the only one that stood out to me in that they didn’t want the same things that all the other labels wanted. They wanted to really work and put effort in what I’m doing because they see we could do it on our own. So they just wanted to be the machine behind us.”

Loma is giving Curry complete creative control, and allowing him to maintain the masters of his music which is a lot of good will for the 21-year-old. On October 14th, Curry is celebrating the new ink by re-releasing his Imperial album with two new tracks, “Me Now” and “Goodnight.” Look out for the new tracks in just a few days! In the meantime, check out his performance at the III Points Festival with Flying Lotus below.
