Logic Drops A Hot Speech And Some Hot Beats At The MTV Music Awards

Last night at the MTV Video Music Awards Logic was one of the standout performances, dropping his “1-800-273-8255” alongside Khalid and Alessia Cara. What was as powerful as his single, was perhaps his message.

Onstage with him were 50 suicide attempt and loss survivors, all wearing shirts that said “You are not Alone.” Suicide and depression threatens a wide range of the populous- only last week Khalid, Alessia Cara and Logic released the music video that featured Don Cheadle, Matthew Modine, Nathan Gould, Coy Stewart, Luis Guizman, Mickaëlle X. Bizet and Bonnie Burroughs to a tune of 10M views.

After Logic finished spitting bars, he gave an extremely heartfelt speech- the following is courtesy of Buzzfeed News;

“I just want to take a moment to thank you for giving me a platform to talk about something that mainstream media doesn’t want to talk about: mental health, anxiety, suicide, depression and so much more that I talk about on this album,” he said. “From racism, discrimination, sexism, domestic violence, sexual assault, and so much more; I don’t give a damn if you are black, white, or any color in between. I don’t care if you’re Christian, you’re Muslim, you’re gay, you’re straight, I am here to fight for your equality because I believe that we are all born equal, but we are not treated equally and that is why we must fight. We must fight for the equality of every man, woman, and child regardless of race, religion, color, creed, and sexual orientation. So I say here and now if you believe in this message of peace, love, positivity, and equality for all, then I demand that you rise to your feet and applaud not only for yourselves, but for the foundation we are laying for our children.”

Susan Bro the mother of Heather Heyer, the political activist brutally murdered in Charlottesville Virginia, joined personalities and lyricists onstage for a memorable evening, dedicating awards to all present.

Only 15 days ago my daughter was killed as she protested racism,” said Bro. “I miss her but I know she’s here tonight. I’ve been deeply moved to see people across the world…find inspiration in her courage.
