When you think of the most successful rapper alive right now, the answer is invariably Jay Z. Hov has been one of, if not the biggest names in the game for ages now, cemented as legendary status with Dre, Snoop, Biggie and Pac.
When the news dropped that Jay Z might just be willing to get back in touch with another icon of the industry, Kanye West, fans of both camps were ecstatic. News is, despite the fact that Ye requested $3.5M and termination of his Tidal contract after taking a shot at Beyonce, he’s willing to squash their beef. Now 3.5 Mill isn’t much to either man, more of a point of pride; Jay was of course disturbed by Kanye’s change of character, but according to Kanye, didn’t show any slack when he was going through his meltdown and Kim was mugged.
Regardless, the fact that both men (who incidentally live down the road from eachother) are willing to finally talk goes a long way in healing the hip hop community.
That’s the good news; the sad news is that despite rumors, Jay Z is NOT interested in performing for this year’s Super Bowl event.
Justin Timberlake is already set to perform, however at least for this year Hov will take a place among the fans for the half time event, an insider told the Sun;
“He has enough songs to create an incredible performance but he really has no plans to do the half-time show.”
4:44 may not be performed at this year’s Super Bowl, but the album is going on tour this fall; speaking recently with Rap Radar, Jay Z said “This album has a lot of topics that’s why it had to be so short, it’s so condensed.”
“It’s so dense with subject matters and all these other things that if it was longer, you wouldn’t be able to take it; it would wear you out. It had to get to a point really quickly.”
