It’s been a hot minute since Papoose was on the mic, but that doesn’t diminish his ability to destroy bars- in fact the last time he was on with Funkmaster Flex, he and his wife Remy Ma put on a freestyle duet that brought in nearly a million and a half youtube views.
Papoose never truly hit it big, but he’s still one of the most capable lyricists in the game, which he hands down demonstrated again in his most recent Funkmaster Flex freestyle, for nearly seven minutes straight.
A “rappers rapper,” Papoose starts the beat by dropping a few verses on the many issues on the top of the minds across American’s today.
“Kaepernick set an example for the NFL, none of them listened, now they all kneelin’ since Trump called em ‘sons of a bitches,” he raps.
Papoose readily admits that he hasn’t had a deal in years, but the fact remains that he’s still “flashin’ jewelry”
Continuing on with modern references, Papoose spits a line including everything from Pennywise from IT, to his #1 “the Queen” Remy Ma.
It may have taken a minute for him to pick up the beat, around the two minute mark is when he really starts to take off.
The flow just kicks off, Papoose drops a few multi’s for the fans, and for all those who are still mourning the loss of lyricism in today’s rap world. If anything is true from Papoose’s time with Flex, it’s that you can count on cats like Papoose to keep the tradition of straight king level lyricism alive.
